Black Friday: Are Muslims allowed to call Friday Black?

Question: Assalamu Alaykum Dear Mufti Sahib

What do the scholars of the Deen say regarding Muslims calling the day Friday ‘Black Friday’?

Answer:

It is not permissible for Muslims to call the day Friday, Black. In Islam, every Friday is a blessed Friday.

‏‏Abu Huraira reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday; on it Adam was created, on it he was made to enter Paradise, on it he was expelled from it. (Sahih Muslim 854)

Also in some narrations, it is mentioned that the mercy of Allah is showered on this day and other narrations of Hadith include that Friday is the master of all days.

Therefore this day is bright and full of mercy which purifies the hearts and souls from darkness of the sins
