Question: What is the ruling on reciting the Qur’an without Tajweed during Salah?

It is Haram (impermissible) to recite the Qur’an without Tajweed. Imam Ibn Jazari mentions in al-Muqaddamah that, it is Fard to recite the Qur’an with Tajweed. Anyone who recites the Qur’an without Tajweed is a sinner as Allah revealed the Qur’an with Tajweed, and it is transmitted to us with Tajweed.
Radd al-Mukhtar states that, if the Imam makes a mistake during the prayer which changes the meaning of the Qur’an such that it is against/opposite of the actual meaning, the prayer will become void. By making minor mistakes (in it’s temporary qualities) the prayer is valid.
