Question:
If I missed a prayer while travelling and have now returned home, should I make it up as a Qasr (shortened) prayer or as a full one?
Answer:
If a traveller misses a prayer during their journey and only returns home after the time for that prayer has passed, they should make it up (qadā) as Qasr, meaning in its shortened form.
Al Imam Al – Quduri mentions:
و من فاتته صلاة في السفر قضاها في الحضر ركعتين و من فاتته صلاة في الحضر قضاها في السفر أربعا
“Whoever misses a four unit prayer whilst travelling will make it up as two unit when becoming resident and whoever misses four unit prayer whilst being resident will make it up as four unit when travelling.
